The True Blue Award emerged from the most recent Speaking Up: Faculty & Staff Experience Survey. The results showed that feeling valued and recognized in the communities in which they work rated highly among employees.
The True Blue Award complements the recognition programs already in existence at the University of Toronto (U of T) and provides staff and faculty with an opportunity to recognize their colleagues in a more informal way. Award recipients are nominated by their colleagues for embodying U of T’s true-blue spirit.

Sandra Ngan
University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC)
“Sandra’s personality is one of genuine care for her craft and her audience. Her drive to help people is inspiring, and her optimistic ‘why not’ attitude is infectious.
She rarely takes breaks, never seeks out praise and is always asking herself what’s next.
Sandra has and continues to make a meaningful impact at UTSC, one that I hope I was able to capture in my allotted 250 words.”
…
“Sandra is wholly deserving of the True Blue Award.
I chose to nominate her because everything she does, she does without want of recognition. She does it all because she understands the importance of a positive student experience, however small the experience.
UTSC is built on the idea of fostering a close-knit community. This community would not exist without the relationships and experiences that she helps improve every day.”
