Your University of Toronto pay statement is now exclusively available online

January 19, 2015

As of January 23, 2015, all employee groups at the University of Toronto will receive their pay statements exclusively online.

Since March 2014, all employees at the University of Toronto have had access to their pay statement online through Employee Self-Service (ESS). With ESS, you can:

  • View your pay statements online approximately two days before the pay deposit date; and
  • View any of your pay statements from within the last two calendar years

For more resources and information on accessing your pay statement online, please use the following resources:

  • Employee Self-Service for Appointed Employees
  • Employee Self-Service for Non-Appointed Employees
  • Which Employee Self-Service should I use?

Formal notice of the discontinuation of paper pay statements was provided to affected employees in September and December 2014. View the official memo here.

How do I access Employee Self-Service (ESS)?

Access and resources on how to log in to Employee Self-Service can be found here: https://people.utoronto.ca/resources/ess.htm

Employees who are unsure which ESS login to use, or need assistance obtaining their UTORid, User ID, or password, should contact their HR Divisional Office.

For technical troubleshooting, please email ess.hr@utoronto.ca.

Viewing and Printing Pay Statements

Electronic pay statements can be produced and implemented as a replacement for paper pay statements provided that employees have private access to view and print them. For those employees who do not have daily access to a computer at work or at home, the University will provide those employees access to a computer and printer for the purposes of reviewing and printing a copy of their online pay information privately and free of cost.

Employees may make arrangements with their HR Divisional Office or their Supervisor to confidentially view and print their pay statements at a mutually convenient and agreed upon time during their breaks and lunch time.

Access can be obtained from computers set up in each accessible work location; you may also visit the Central Human Resource Office located on the St. George Campus, 8th Floor, 215 Huron Street, including or between the work hours of 8:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (4:30 p.m. from July 1st to Labour Day).
