University of Toronto community’s generous support results in successful United Way campaign

Over $600,000 was raised for charity

The 2016 University of Toronto (U of T) United Way Campaign saw a significant increase in both overall donors and leadership donors, contributing to the over $600,000 raised. Hundreds of individuals across the U of T community participated either through financial contributions or participation in events.

The University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) campus raised a record $76,000.

“I’m continually reminded of the generosity and empathy of members of the U of T community,” notes Rosalyn Figov, director of finance and operations in the Division of Human Resources & Equity who led the campaign project team. “The U of T United Way Campaign is the latest example of this.”

“It is gratifying to know that the contributions will help and move people from a place of need, to one of hope and possibility,” said Figov. “Because of the generous support of the U of T community, lives will be changed for the better.”

This year’s Campaign featured a variety of activities hosted by U of T community members.

A number of successful new events were launched, such as UTM’s first Wine & Food Seminar, led by a sommelier, as well as Human Resources & Equity’s BINGO, which collected over $500 for the Campaign.

Additionally, popular annual events, such as Facilities & Services’ Swap Shop Sale and UTM’s Yogathon, returned to make impressive appearances.
