U of T walks across Canada virtually during Healthy Workplace Month

Inspired by Terry Fox, this year’s 10,000 Steps Challenge began with a virtual journey across Canada. It started off in Newfoundland, following Terry’s path through Atlantic Canada and on to Thunder Bay, Ontario, where Terry’s marathon of hope ended. Our route continued across the country before finishing in British Columbia, and participants picked up facts about First Nation’s History along the way.

Congratulations to all 68 teams and 435 staff who participated in this years 10,000 Steps Challenge, presented by Homewood Health. We appreciate all of your team spirit, effort, and determination to improve activity levels.

The results are in:

· First Prize for the team with the highest average number of steps is “Holy Walkamoly!
· Second Prize for team participation drawn at random is “Believe!
· Third Prize for team participation drawn at random is “Pedagogical Pedometer

Each of the winning teams received a $100 gift card for UberEats to have a COVID-19-compliant celebratory team lunch.

The Challenge is an integrated wellness initiative that helps meet the full spectrum of staff wellness needs and enhances the coordination, collaboration and communication of wellness programs and services across the University.
