U of T Recognized as one of Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity for 2023

The University of Toronto has been recognized by Forbes as one of Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity for 2023.

Forbes and Statista selected Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity based on independent surveys of more than 12,000 employees working part-time or full-time for companies employing at least 500 people in Canada.

Respondents were asked to give their opinion on a series of statements related to age, gender equality, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQIA+, and general diversity concerning their own employer. Additionally, they had the opportunity to evaluate other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively with regard to diversity.

Companies were also assessed on gender diversity among their top executives and/or board members, and indicators such as tangible diversity-related initiatives, resource groups for employees, and proactive communication of diversity.

“Being named one of Canada’s Best Employers for Diversity speaks to the deep commitment and hard work of faculty members, librarians, and staff across the University of Toronto,” said Kelly Hannah-Moffat, Vice-President, People Strategy, Equity & Culture. “Our shared efforts to foster a culture of belonging at U of T are making a significant impact, and we will continue to build on this progress as we work to embed equity, diversity, and inclusion into all aspects of life at the University.”
