Twelve exceptional faculty members, librarians, staff, and students from across the University of Toronto’s tri-campus community were celebrated at the fourth annual Pinnacle Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
The 2025 luncheon marked a significant milestone, for the first time, the Joan E. Foley Quality of Student Experience Award and the Jill Matus Award for Excellence in Student Services were presented alongside the Chancellor’s Leadership Award, the President’s Excellence Award, and the Ludwik & Estelle Jus Memorial Human Rights Prize.
The five awards presented at this event are part of the University’s distinguished Awards of Excellence program. These awards celebrate the remarkable individuals who shape, elevate, and enrich our community.
Kelly Hannah-Moffat, Vice-President, People Strategy, Equity & Culture, presented the Chancellor’s Leadership Award, the President’s Excellence Award, and the Ludwik & Estelle Jus Memorial Human Rights Prize. “It has been an honour to participate on the Selection Committee for these three distinct award programs many times in my role,” Hannah-Moffat noted. “Each time, I appreciate the immense work that goes into compiling the nomination packages and always I have been incredibly impressed with the accomplishments of the nominees.”
Attendees enjoyed lunch in the historic Upper Library at Massey College, where colleagues, nominators, and guests gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of this year’s recipients and reflect on the spirit of service and community at U of T.

“As Vice-Provost, Students, it’s my pleasure to be an integral part of co-curricular and student life at U of T,” said Sandy Welsh, who presented the Foley and Matus awards. “This reception is about honouring everyone here for everything that you do to improve programs and services, enhance the student experience, and make a real difference on campus.”
Welsh closed her remarks by congratulating all of the day’s honourees. “You inspire in us the desire to exceed and do better in our own work and to carry forward the excellence that you exhibit in your respective portfolios. Thank you for your outstanding leadership, mentorship, and commitment to your colleagues, community, and the students that you support, inspire, and encourage at U of T.”
As the U of T community evolves, so do the recognition programs and the University’s commitment to recognize individuals who make meaningful contributions to the tri-campus and beyond.
