I am delighted to share with you that Cherilyn Nobleza, Executive Director, HR Transformation & Analytics, has been awarded this year’s Chancellor’s Leadership Award in the Emerging Leader category. This award recognizes the increasing responsibility Cherilyn has assumed in the Division of People Strategy, Equity & Culture, and the exemplary leadership she has shown across our tri-campus community, particularly during the pandemic.
Over the past two years, Cherilyn has overseen communications to divisional HR Offices, keeping faculty, librarians, and staff informed of ever-evolving health and safety protocols and policies. She led the development and successful implementation of the UCheck platform, an essential tool to facilitate our safe return to on-campus activities. Since August 2021, Cherilyn has also embraced the challenge of leading a joint strategy communications group to develop messaging and coordinate approvals of critical and sensitive all-community messages. Always calm and organized in the most urgent of situations, Cherilyn has been an invaluable liaison between various senior administrative tables and the many tri-campus offices that must meet the unique needs of their stakeholders while fulfilling institutional objectives.
Through her leadership in people analytics and data stewardship, Cherilyn has demonstrated her ability to manage initiatives that may carry a significant reputational risk for our Division and the University. Cherilyn has actively engaged University-wide teams to initiate the transformation of how employee data is collected and shared. She has been instrumental in shepherding the process of creating a data dashboard to accompany our 2021 Employment Equity Report and is central to our ongoing efforts to use data-driven strategies to address systemic exclusion and discrimination.
Regardless of the initiative, Cherilyn applies her tremendous institutional knowledge and a willingness to embrace innovative ideas while honouring all opinions at the table. She has earned the respect of her team members and colleagues, who consistently see her leading by example. While her leadership within our Division has been evident for many years, I am thrilled to recognize Cherilyn for the incredible impact she has made across our tri-campus community.
Please join me in congratulating Cherilyn for receiving this well-deserved award.
Sincerely,
Kelly Hannah-Moffat
Vice-President, People Strategy, Equity & Culture.
