|Re:||For information and action: Agreement ratified between University of Toronto and USW Local 1998, Casual|
On November 13, 2017, a new collective agreement was ratified between the University and USW Local 1998, Casual. Updates about the agreement were posted on U of T’s website and the Human Resources & Equity website.
As a result, please note the relevant payroll items will be implemented as follows:
- A $200 one-time-only (OTO) payment to each eligible active employee in the bargaining unit will be processed on the biweekly pay period #25 and December’s monthly pay. This process is administered centrally and no action is required from the divisions.
- The new minimum rate of $15 / hour will be implemented in HRIS and Kronos with an effective date of November 13, 2017. Subsequently,
- A new minimum rate $15 will be reflected on any hours onlined as of November 23 and onwards;
- Any departments entering hours during the November 13 to 22 period with a hourly rate below $15 will receive a list of attendance records and will be expected to manually update the new rate. This will need to be done in order to trigger the retro adjustment to be paid on biweekly pay period #25, as well as for December’s monthly pay.
Please be advised that the above-noted changes impact employees in the USW 1998 Casual unit only.
