United Way: U of T community raises $664,846 to support those in need

February 16, 2016

The 2015 University of Toronto United Way campaign raised $664,846; demonstrating U of T’s ongoing commitment to the local community.

The U of T United Way Project team attributes the success of the 2015 campaign in part to diverse campus initiatives such as St. George’s ‘Swap Shop’ sale, run by Facilities & Services, and OISE’s Lasagna Lunch. At UTM, popular annual events, such as the Office of the Registrar’s Indian Lunch Buffet, and new events, such as the ‘Yogathon’, raised $65,873 for United Way of Peel Region.

The United Way has been dedicated to creating opportunities that help build strong communities where we live and work. One example of this is The Toronto Enterprise Fund (TEF). It is a unique funding partnership of United Way Toronto with the City of Toronto and the Ontario provincial government. It provides transitional or permanent employment, or training leading to employment for people in need. TEF also provides annual operating grants to a portfolio of existing social enterprise and seed funding to two or three start-ups.

The U of T United Way Project Team thanks the U of T community for its support during the fall campaign.

Together we can work to affect positive and long-term change.
