February 19, 2016
Effective March 1, 2016, the Tax Slip Consent Program will be available on Employee Self-Service (ESS).
What is this Program about?
As part of our commitment to support a sustainable and eco-friendly workplace and improve employee’s access to tax slip information, the University is working to deliver tax slips (e.g. T4 or T4A) exclusively online through ESS. In order to do this, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires that all employees first provide their consent to the University of Toronto.
How does the Program Work?
Any employee who grants consent on ESS, will no longer receive tax slips in paper format and will be able to access and print their slips from ESS. Consent remains in effect until employee revokes the consent on ESS.
How to Grant the Consent?
This can be done in a few easy steps.
- Step 1. First Login to your account on Employee Self-Service (ESS).
- Step 2. Access the Consent Form.
Find it under Pay and Benefits Information -> Payment ->Tax Slip Consent
- Step 3. Click on Tax Slip Consent
- Step 4. Click ‘Grant Consent’ button
Once the employee clicks the ‘Grant Consent’ button, the Consent is received and updated on the Consent History.
How to Revoke the Consent?
At any time, an employee may revoke the consent on the same form to withdraw the consent. Once the consent is revoked, the individual will continue receiving the tax slip in paper format.
How would an employee receive the tax slip if they have left the university and no longer have ESS access?
Employees who no longer have ESS access will be mailed a copy. The slip will be sent to the last residence address U of T has on file.
