U of T Faculty & Staff: Starting October 20, please ‘Speak Up’!

September 4, 2014

This October, U of T will conduct its third Speaking Up employee survey, with assistance from the renowned Ipsos Reid polling organization.

First launched in 2006, with a second edition in 2010, the survey results are used to gauge engagement, track progress and identify and prioritize the needs and concerns of faculty and staff.

The survey – also referred to as the University of Toronto Faculty & Staff Experience Survey (UTFSES) — is a joint initiative of the Offices of the Vice-President & Provost and the Vice-President, Human Resources & Equity.

The University has worked with IPSOS Reid to determine the survey’s content. A Steering Committee and Advisory Committee, comprised of representatives from across the University also provided input into the questionnaire. Many of the key questions are similar to the previous ‘Speaking Up’ surveys as a way to track progress, as well as to compare our results to benchmark data.

The online survey will run from October 20 to November 14 and it is expected that results will be shared with Divisions starting in February.

From there, Divisions will work with the results to look at areas of strength and areas of opportunity. Divisions will be expected to develop action plans to respond to issues and themes that arise from the results.
