The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS), in partnership with the Council of Ontario Universities (COU) and the University of Toronto, has developed a number of resources to help educators’ foster more accessible and inclusive educational environments where students can engage in active learning and demonstrate, through hands-on activities, the understanding of the practical components of a given discipline.

The recommendations made in these resources are directed toward building inclusive laboratory environments and supporting a culture of accessibility for all undergraduate and graduate students at our universities.

They include:

• Creating Accessible Practical Spaces
• Improving Access to Archival Spaces
• Improving Access to Art and Design Studios
• Simulation Learning

These resources are found at AccessibleCampus.ca  – a space hosted by Council of Ontario Universities for the purpose of assisting university administrators and educators in making universities more accessible.

Students disclosing a need for an accommodation due to a disability should register with the appropriate Accessibility Services Office:
