As a non-unionized employee, you play a critical role in the University Pension Plan (UPP) decision-making process – and there are now just a few days left to have your say.
The UPP is designed to ensure a sustainable defined benefit pension plan for the university sector. As a jointly sponsored pension plan (JSPP), employers and employees work together to create and govern the plan. The conversion to the UPP requires a formal consent process, set out in and the Ontario Pension Benefits Act and regulations.
The consent period closes next Friday June 28, 2019.
You have an important role to play in the consent process for approving the transition to a new plan.
If you support the conversion to the UPP, it is up to you to submit your consent form by mail before the June 28, 2019 deadline.
Any non-unionized member who does not return their form will be deemed not to consent.
How to submit your consent form
- Complete the consent form included in your notice package, which was mailed to your home address in late March*.
- Return your consent form by mail using the pre-addressed return envelope enclosed in your package.
- Please allow sufficient time for the form to be received through the mail before the deadline.
- All consent forms must be received, by mail, by the end of day on June 28, 2019.
