Congratulations to all 139 teams and 770 staff who walked more than 243 million steps (equivalent to more than 185,000 kms) in the October 10,000 Steps Team Challenge for Staff at U of T. For context, walking 185,000 kilometres would get you approximately half- way to the moon, or four and a half times around the earth’s circumference at the equator!
The results are in:
· First Prize for the team with the highest average number of steps is “The Walking Primers” – The Donnelly Centre
· Second Prize for team participation drawn at random is “This Just Thin” – Ancillary Services
· Third Prize for team participation drawn at random is “Heart and Soles” – Division of University Advancement
Each of the winning teams will receive a $100 gift card for UberEats to have a COVID-19-compliant celebratory team lunch.
Special recognition to Juline Poirson at the Donnelly Centre and Liza Wong at Ancillary Services, who each took more than 1.4 million steps during October.
We congratulate all 139 teams who participated and appreciate their team spirit, effort, and determination to improve activity levels. We are all winners when we work on our wellness.
The Challenge is part of HR & Equity’s integrated wellness initiative that helps meet the full spectrum of staff wellness needs and enhances the coordination, collaboration and communication of wellness programs and services across the University.
