I would like to share exciting news from the Institutional Equity Office.
This January, Jodie Glean-Mitchell will be taking parental leave to welcome a new member of her family. In addition to congratulating Jodie on this joyful news, I would like to acknowledge the impact she has made during her first year as Executive Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion.
Jodie has been instrumental in developing an Institutional Equity Office with defined strategic objectives and works with our community partners to support the implementation, tracking, and communication of the University’s EDI Commitments. She strengthened the EDI community network across our three campuses with established forums for central and divisional EDI leads to connect as a community. Moreover, her work in launching the Anti-Asian Racism Working Group, PSEC’s Inclusion in Action Speaker Series, and team dialogues on Belonging have laid the groundwork for institutional change and ongoing learning.
Dr. Allison Burgess will be carrying this important work forward as Acting Executive Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, effective January 2, 2023. As Director of the Sexual & Gender Diversity Office, Allison has spent more than a decade developing partnerships, resources, and programs. She has championed process improvements and education initiatives that have fostered equity and inclusion across the University. Her familiarity with our diverse community, strong academic background in equity, and collaborative leadership style are tremendous assets for this role.
We will be posting the Director of Sexual & Gender Diversity Office position shortly and we encourage qualified internal and external candidates to apply.
Please join me in congratulating both Jodie and Allison!
