Dear Colleagues,

At this time of the year planning of end-of-year staff events would have begun, and we would be sending you our annual reminder missive regarding our legal obligations according to the Liquor License Act, University policy such as the Alcohol Policy, and general laws.

However, as we all are aware, with the COVID-19 pandemic this year is like no other, and we are considering alternative ways to both express gratitude to our colleagues for the work they have done this year, and to have a holiday celebration, albeit virtually, before the December break.

We encourage you to be creative and find ways to get together. With respect to recognition or gifts we would ask you to not send alcohol as per university policy but to explore alternative options such as e-cards, or even to defer celebrating until we have returned to campus. We have created a SharePoint site where you can share your holiday planning ideas.
