Call for Nominations – U of T Anti-Black Racism Task Force

We are honoured to serve as the co-chairs of the U of T Anti-Black Racism Task Force. You can read more about the goals of the Task Force, and the important work that lies ahead, on the Task Force webpage.

This important work will require broad collaboration from and consultation with all members of the U of T community.

We invite all members of our community to submit nominations of individuals to serve on the Task Force with us this year.  We seek to include a diversity of voices on the issue of Black inclusion and excellence in this work.  Members of the U of T community can nominate themselves or other U of T students, faculty, staff, librarians, instructors, and researchers to serve on the Task Force.

The Task Force will meet from October 2020 through to March 2021.  Task Force members should be available to join monthly or biweekly online meetings, with some reading and preparation work between meetings.  Given that we anticipate holding all meetings online this year, Task Force members do not need to be physically located in the GTA in order to serve on the Task Force.

Nominations (including self-nominations) may be submitted online via the Task Force webpage by Friday, October 16, 2020.  We would ask nominators to describe the nominee’s lived experience, research expertise, community leadership, or other experience with anti-Black Racism that would make the nominee a strong contributor to the Task Force.

There will be many opportunities for all members of the U of T community to contribute their ideas and recommendations to the Task Force. We invite you to keep visiting the Task Force’s webpage to contribute your ideas, and to stay tuned for other consultation opportunities in the coming months. The Task Force will present its findings and recommendations to the President, Vice-President, Human Resources and Equity, and Provost by March 31, 2021.
