Each year during National Payroll Week we recognize the work that payroll staff do to ensure that we are all paid accurately and on time. This year especially, I want to express my deep gratitude and admiration for the way our payroll team – those who process payroll in the Division of People Strategy, Equity & Culture as well as in Divisional HR Offices – have continued to work diligently and without interruption to services despite the many challenges presented by the pandemic.

From the processing of financial supplements to complement the CERB to EI supplements after CERB ended, U of T’s evolving pandemic response has resulted in changes to the work that has been required of our payroll staff. They have managed to adapt quickly, effectively and without delay to payments for staff or vendors, whether on or off-cycle.

The past 18 months have been a time of great uncertainty in which the accuracy and reliability of payroll has become even more important. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to each member of our pan-University payroll teams for their hard work and dedication to the University of Toronto.
