2022 Compensation update for Confidential, PM, AP and RA / SRA staff

On March 17, 2021, Business Board approved a series of recommendations regarding compensation increases for Confidential, Professional & Managerial (PM), Advancement Professionals (AP), and Research Associate & Senior Research Associate (RA / SRA) staff.

Merit increases

The University administers annual merit increases for eligible non-represented staff groups in line with each group’s existing compensation policies.  Merit increases will be determined based on June 30, 2022 salaries and  implemented in the July 2022 pay.

Across the Board (ATB) increase

Across the Board (ATB) increases for eligible non-represented staff groups have historically been determined by taking into account the compensation increases negotiated with other unionized employee groups. In 2021-2022, compensation increases for non-represented staff (Confidential, Professional & Managerial (PM1-5) and Research Associates/Senior Research Associates) were consistent with negotiated increases for USW. Taking this into consideration, the recommended 1% ATB for Confidential, Professional & Managerial (PM 1-5) staff, Research Associates/Senior Research Associates (RA/ SRA) was approved for this year.

An ATB of 1% effective July 1, 2022

The 1% 2022 ATB increase will be effective July 1, 2022 based on June 30, 2022 salaries and implemented in the July pay.

In addition to maintaining consistency with unionized groups, the decision to provide an ATB to non-represented staff also ensures the University’s compliance with the compensation restrictions legislated under Bill 124.
