Re: Compensation Update for Confidential, PM, AP and RA / SRA Staff

Further to my message of May 7, 2015, I am pleased to update you on changes to your compensation.

On June 18, Business Board approved Compensation increases, and some benefit plan changes, for Confidential, Professional & Managerial (PM) Staff, Advancement Professionals (AP), Research Associates and Senior Research Associates (RA / SRA). These increases align with existing government legislation and are responsive to the University’s current financial constraints.

Merit Increase
Annual merit increases will be within each group’s fixed merit envelope, consistent with the Province’s current compensation restraint legislation. While the merit pay will be effective July 1, 2015, it will be implemented retroactively in September.

The RA / SRA Performance Assessment process will launch later this month using the online Halogen system, please look for a separate memo outlining process instructions.

Across the Board (ATB) Increase
Effective, July 1, 2015 and January 2016 Across the Board (ATB) increases of 0.5% for all Confidential, Professional & Managerial Staff, Advancement Professionals, Research Associates and Senior Research Associates will be implemented. Both increases will be based on June 30, 2015 salaries.

We are working to ensure that eligible employees will receive any applicable ATB increases in their July pay. Further processing instructions for Business Officers will be forthcoming.

Benefit Changes
Effective July 1, 2015 the vision care maximum for PM 1-5, Confidentials and RA / SRAs, will increase to $400 / person / 24 months. Also effective July 1, 2015, the Extended Health Care Plan will be modified to add coverage for naturopathy, homeopathy, osteopaths, occupational therapy and acupuncture to the existing chiropractic / physiotherapy / registered massage therapy $700 combined maximum / person / plan year.

Effective January 1, 2016, the Health Care Spending Accounts for PM 6-9 will be increased to $725 / single and $1450 / family.

Early Retirement Bridge Benefit
An Early Retirement Bridge Benefit will be made available for retirements after January 1, 2016 up to and including December 31, 2016, for any PM 1-5, Confidentials and RA / SRAs who can retire early with an unreduced pension under 60 / 80 and for PM 6-9 who can retire early with an unreduced pension under 60+15.

Please refer to the HR & Equity website for complete details on the Bridge Benefit.

Should you have any questions about these compensation changes, please contact your HR Divisional Office.
