After a formal and thorough review process, which included representatives from employee groups, I am pleased to advise you that the University’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) will be provided by Homewood Health, effective November 1, 2014.
Homewood has been delivering EFAP services across Canada since 1979. They are known for their personal and exceptional level of clinical service delivery. The EFAP program from Homewood Health will include several new services and will provide access to a full range of health and wellness services including;
- Online, face-to-face or phone counselling services;
- Lifestyle and Specialty Counselling a series of work-life services that offer advice from experts, information, coaching and resources that you can access and use in your own way; and,
- Online services including e-learning courses a health and wellness companion and an online child and elder care services locator
More information about the new EFAP can be found on the Human Resources & Equity website at http://uoft.me/efap.
Transition to Homewood Health
University of Toronto employees and their families can access any of the EFAP services as of November 1, 2014. In an emergency or crisis situation, immediate support is available. Please be assured that when you use the program, it is completely confidential.
Prior to November 1, if you are currently in counselling, you will be able to continue with your current counsellor-your needs will be fully met during the transition. Upon case closure, any future support will be provided by Homewood Health.
A brochure about the new EFAP will be mailed to your home address in mid-November. The information will include a perforated card that will easily tear out; please keep it in a safe place so that the 24/7/365 day hotline number is at your fingertips should you or your family members ever be in need of assistance.
If you have any questions you may contact Homewood Health directly at 1.800.663.1142 or Rosie Parnass, Executive Director, Organizational & Leadership Development & Work-Life Support at firstname.lastname@example.org.
