Re: | Launch of Annual Performance Assessment Process for SRAs and RAs (Limited Term) |
Please ensure this communication is forwarded to all Principal Investigators (PIs) in your departments.
Further to my message of July 2, 2013, I’m pleased to announce the launch the 2013 Performance Assessment Process – an important opportunity to recognize accomplishments, clarify expectations, focus on priorities and discuss opportunities for development.
Senior Research Associates and Research Associates (Limited Term) are asked to complete their Activity Report using the Performance Planning, Feedback and Development Form . Upon completion, the form should be sent to the Principal Investigators to document their assessment.
Merit
The 2013 merit increase for SRAs and RAs will range from 0-2% of base salary; the amount within that range is to be determined taking into consideration an individual’s performance level (unsatisfactory to exceptional), their placement in the salary range and the Divisional merit envelope. Principal Investigators should work with their Departmental Business Officers and Divisional HR Offices to confirm individual merit amounts for their SRA / RA staff.
Movement through salary ranges for SRA staff should be accelerated up to the breakpoint, and rise more slowly above the breakpoint. However, SRAs low in the salary range with a performance rating of ‘exceptional’ may be awarded a merit of up to 2.5% with appropriate Chair approval and available merit envelope funds.
An overview of the process timelines and the Overall Performance Ratings (PPFD Form, Appendix I) are available here.
The salary ranges are available here.
