|Re:||GO Transit, York Region Transit – Possible Labour Disruptions|
Three potential labour disruptions could affect next week’s commute for some of our students and employees: two impacting York Region Transit/Viva services, while the third may affect GO bus service across the GTA.
Strike deadlines have been set for midnight on Sunday, October 23rd.
Specific services that may be affected are:
• All GO buses (GO trains won’t be affected); and
• 51 YRT routes in Markham, Richmond Hill, Whitchurch-Stouffville and parts of Vaughan that handle 16,000 daily rides.
York Region Transit is recommending riders check its website (http://www.yrt.ca/en/) for updates and trip-planning assistance, or call their Customer Service Centre at 1.866.MOVE.YRT (668-3978).
GO Transit will also provide updates on its site (www.gotransit.com).
Supervisors are asked to ensure all of their employees – particularly those without online access at work – are given this information. Supervisors should also be flexible regarding specific work schedules and, where possible, facilitate carpooling and use of alternate transportation arrangements.
In some cases it may be possible for supervisors to approve employees working from home.
For those arriving by car, the normal parking regulations, including cash rates and parking enforcement, will continue on all three campuses.
Should you have any questions related to parking, visit http://learn.utoronto.ca/services/maps.htm or call the parking services at each campus:
