- Leadership within Environmental Health & Safety
I am very pleased to announce that Susan Fern-MacDougall has accepted the position of Director, Environmental Health & Safety, effective January 28, 2008.
Susan is currently the Director, Risk Management for Environmental Health & Safety at Siemens Canada where she had the responsibility for creating a new department within Siemens Canada Ltd. to address the organizational needs of 14 manufacturing sites, 75 offices and 7700 employees across Canada. Prior to her role with Siemens Canada, Susan held senior leadership roles with both Frito-Lay Canada and DiverseyLever Canada. Susan holds her Masters of Science in Occupational Health from McGill University and her Masters of Health Studies from Athabasca University.
Susan comes to the position with a commitment to proactive risk management with respect to Health & Safety. She believes in a collaborative, problem solving approach and will work with our community to ensure that the University’s Environmental Health & Safety practices and procedures are exemplary.
Effective immediately, Laura MacDonald, who has provided leadership to the Environmental Health & Safety unit over the past five months in her role as Interim Director, will be assuming a newly created role of Associate Director.
I am confident that, with the leadership of both Susan and Laura, this unit will continue to develop into a leading edge group of EH&S professionals.
Please join me in welcoming Susan to the University.
