All three of the University of Toronto campuses are in the communities supported by United Way Greater Toronto. U of T invites all of our community members to contribute towards an equitable recovery from the pandemic and end poverty.
In 2022, generous support from donors enabled United Way Greater Toronto to provide various programs that serve the community across its network of over 300 social service agencies in over 650 programs, impacting 2 million people.

“Poverty doesn’t end at those experiencing it. It affects us all. As many of our neighbours struggle to cope with the skyrocketing cost of living, we need solutions that work for today and into the future. With your generous support, we can meet urgent needs around food, housing, employment and mental health, while building strong neighbourhoods with access to services and opportunities for a better life for everyone.”
– Danielle Zanotti, United Way Greater Toronto CEO & President
United to Meet Urgent Needs:

- 1 in 5 Canadians (22%) said they’d need charitable services to meet basic needs
- Visits to food banks have quadrupled (4x) this year since pre-pandemic
- Calls to 211 for counselling services have gone up 34%
- The GTA lost over 130,000 rental units priced under $1,500 / month
