Life Insurance
As result of lower claims experience this past year, the life insurance premiums will decrease by approximately 10% for all employees effective January 1, 2017
Extended Health Care (EHC)
Negotiated changes to your benefits plan will take effect January 1, 2017 and include the following plan improvements:
- Increase in the combined annual maximum for paramedical services [physiotherapy, registered massage therapy (RMT), and acupuncture], from $300 to $400 per year per covered person.
- Increase coverage for registered podiatrist / chiropodist to an annual maximum coverage of $350.
These improvements will result in the full-time employee EHC monthly premium increasing from $18.82 to $19.48 for single coverage and from $41.92 to $43.40 for family coverage. As premiums are prepaid by one month, these new premiums — split over your normal bi-weekly pay — will take effect in your first bi-weekly pay in December (period 25).
